There is a possibility of snowfall in the New Orleans area. That alone is enough to get people talking, but a few Saints fans have been pointing out on social media that the last time measurable snow fell in New Orleans, the Saints went on to win the Super Bowl.

National Weather Service meteorologist Alek Krautmann confirms it.

"December 4th, 2009: that was the last time the city of New Orleans had a small amount of snow," said Krautmann. "We had a tenth of an inch reported at the airport."

Krautmann said while there's no known scientific link between the weather and the Saints' success, the fact that the last recorded snowfall also came during the greatest Saints season to date hasn't escaped them.

"We talked about that at work as well," he said. "It's a fun correlation, but I'm afraid it's just that."

Krautmann said he's open to the Saints giving more weight to that correlation.

"With two years, we can make a trend."
