Voice of the Saints Zach Strief spoke with quarterback Drew Brees after the New Orleans Saints nail-biting win over the Dallas Cowboys 12-10.  Fans were excited, as were there players; and Brees praised the defense in particular.

"Guys were pumped.  [We’re] just continuing to get better, better," Brees said.  "You can’t say enough our defensive effort…against a really explosive offense, an offense that’s been putting up a ton of points and making a ton of plays.  Man, those guys played their hearts out and really came up at the end of the game."

It was by no means a perfect performance, however.  The Saints racked up 9 penalties for 80 yards.  Many of those penalties came when New Orleans had the ball – right tackle Ryan Ramczyk was the only member of the offensive line not to get called for holding – and that put the offense in a difficult position.

"Penalties, drive-killers, Brees lamented.  I felt like we wasted a lot of opportunities and just put ourselves in really tough positions and stalled drives."

Still, the Saints pulled out the win and improved to 2-0 in games without Brees.  That brings up one of the biggest questions on everyone’s minds: how is Brees recovering?

"I feel good.  My goal is just to stay ahead of schedule, Brees explained.  I’ve tried to do all the right things over the last two weeks.  It’s been painful not to be with my team in Seattle and here during the week, but I was really trying to do all the right things with by rehab, just getting ahead so that I can fast track this thing as quickly as possible."
