After a 363 yard game against the Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football, Drew Brees is the all-time passing leader in the NFL with 72,103 yards. He surged past Brett Favre (71,838) early on and then surpassed Peyton Manning (71,940) on a 62 yard touchdown throw to rookie wide receiver Tre'Quan Smith.

“Everybody rose to the occasion tonight.”

The Saints did rise to the occasion, smashing Washington 43-19 and improving to 4-1 with sole possession of first place in the NFC South. Ever the consummate teammate, getting that win was the main focus for Brees.

“I obviously wanted to communicate with everyone that it was about winning the game and if we just focus on that, everything else will just take care of itself.”
