The New Orleans Saints are now 3-0 with quarterback Drew Brees sidelined with an injury. In an interview with Zach Strief, Voice of the Saints, Brees lauded the team's performance without him.

"I'm extremely proud," Brees said. "I've had a chance to sit back [and watch] from a different perspective than I've ever been in and really watch the team grow and be strengthened from within."

Against Seattle and Dallas, New Orleans largely leaned on the defense and special teams to get wins. Against Tampa Bay, the defense had another dominant showing; but Teddy Bridgewater exploded, throwing for 314 yards and 4 touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes.

"He did a great job all day of making great reads, getting the ball out on time, Brees said. "You're just seeing the product of what we get to see every week with Teddy."

The future Hall of Famer didn't stop at Bridgewater either.

"The guys up front did a great job against a pretty good pass rush front," Brees said. "We knew it would be a struggle, at times, to run because this is pretty big front. I felt like we were efficient all the way around."

Brees singled out the play of Michael Thomas, who had another big game. The star wide receiver hauled in 11 receptions for 182 yards and 2 touchdowns.

"That's a great security blanket," Brees chuckled. "Michael Thomas is just one of those guys that, if he's sees singled [in coverage], he feels like he's going to win. You feel like he's going to win. So there's just a ton of confidence throwing to the guy."

Brees also had high praise for the defense, specifically defensive end Marcus Davenport.

"He's really developing into a very formidable pass rusher," Brees gushed. "Being opposite one of the better pass rushers in the league in Cam Jordan as well, that one-two right there is very problematic for an offensive front. I'm happy for his growth and development, and we're going to need it as we roll along here."
