The New Orleans Saints scored a season-high 48 points in Sunday's loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Saints quarterback Drew Brees said that performance was closer to what New Orleans' offense has been striving for all season.

"This is more like it," Brees said. "Even thought the result was not what we wanted, we can build on this."

The Saints tallied 465 yards of offense and scored six touchdowns including four on their first four drives of the game for the first time since October 8, 2018, when they defeated the Washington Redskins 43-19. That feat was made more impressive as they faced a team that was allowing just over 15 points per game heading into Sunday's contest.

"It was scary watching tape this week of what that D-line was doing to other teams with the number of sacks and pressures and just devouring the pocket," Brees said. "I felt like our guys did a great job. There was quite a few five-man rush scenarios, lots of games being run up front with the D-line. (I) felt like our guys handled them really well and listen, our guys were getting open down field so we were able to get the ball into playmakers hands quickly and put together some really good drives."
