When did you know?

When did you know when you passed physics? When did you know that you played hooky and didn’t get caught? When did you know he or she was THE one?  When did you know whether you were going to have a boy or a girl?  When did you know when you’d found the PERFECT house in the PERFECT neighborhood?  When did you know it was time to retire?

When did you know this was going to be a “special” season for the Saints?  I say “special” because I received several angry texts and e-mails from listeners fearful that I would “gris-gris” the boys in Black and Gold by saying “go to the Super Bowl,” so I won’t.  Lord knows I don’t want any responsibility for that.

But when did you KNOW the Saints were going to the…-…errr..ummm…that this would be a “special season” for the Fleur de Lis gang?  For me and several of those who called in, it was when Justin Tucker missed the extra point in the Ravens game.  He’d never missed one before, and a successful kick would have sent the game into overtime against a team that Sean Peyton and Drew Brees had yet found a way to beat.

The TV announcers played it for all it was worth.  “Never missed a kick,” “Mister Dependable,” “overtime and maybe the coach and quarterback may not finally beat this team after all."  While they were saying that and the Ravens were lining up, I said aloud to those with whom I was watching the game, “if he misses this kick we’re going to the…”  I said it then but I won’t say it now.  We all know what happened next.

What at first looked like a perfect kick suddenly veered right off track…to the right.  At that point I KNEW the Saints were going to have a ….”special season.”  I don’t want to say the other S word because I wouldn’t want to gris-gris them. After all, that’s what happened when the announcers said Justin Tucker had never missed an extra point, right?

When did YOU know that the Saints were destined for….a "special season."    WHO DAT!!!
