Tommy: The best is yet to come with Teddy Bridgewater

After Drew’s thumb injury and the worry that ensued, I think the Who Dat Nation breathed a collective sigh of relief after Teddy Bridgewater’s performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.  Fear and trepidation were replaced by the chants of “TEDDY, TEDDY, TEDDY!”  And justly so.  But I’ve noticed that sigh of relief seems to mean “well at least we know Teddy can do this, so we might be ok”.

WHAT?!?!?!?  Why in the world would you limit yourself and think this is the BEST that Teddy can be? I’m not, and I think we have yet to see the best that Teddy can be.

After the horrific injury that Teddy suffered when he was with the Vikings, the doctors were talking about possibly having to amputate the bottom half of the leg.  I don’t know about you but if I heard the word “amputate” used in reference to an injury I suffered while pursuing an activity I can assure you I would not be engaging in the activity again.

Not so with Teddy.  He learned how to WALK again. He regained his strength, coordination and balance.  He came back to the game he loved.  Do you really think after all of that he’s happy for anything good that happens? I don’t. I think he came back because he knows what he’s capable of.  He wants to be the best in the NFL.  Maybe he will be or maybe he won’t.  A lot of things figure in the equation.  But I can guarantee you his mindset is to WIN and WIN and WIN.

I think the best is yet to come with Teddy Bridgewater.   Forget that collective sigh of relief or being thankful for small favors.  In the time that Teddy has 100% of the coaches’ attention and a game plan that’s tailored toward his talents, I believe you’ll be astounded at the ability that Teddy Bridgewater brings to the field.  When it’s all over, you’ll have no doubt as to Drew Brees’ successor.

I’ll tell you right now who will wear the crown.  It’ll be TEDDY, TEDDY, TEDDY.  WHO DAT!?!?!?!?!?
