A position the Saints will likely address this offseason is tight end.  Benjamin Watson is retiring, so that leaves Josh Hill, Dan Arnold and Garrett Griffin on the roster currently. Michael Hoomanawanui, who was injured all of last season, is an unrestricted free agent.

With the NFL combine starting next week, I figured it was time to talk to WWL NFL draft analyst Mike Detillier about some guys we should be keeping an eye on that could end up getting drafted by the Black & Gold.

With no first round pick, Detillier right away said that 3 tight ends should be off the board by the time the Saints do pick in round two.  TJ Hockenson & Noah Fant out of Iowa will be gone, along with Alabama’s Irv Smith Jr.

Come round two, the Saints own the 62nd overall selection and Detillier feels there are two TEs that could peak New Orleans interest. They are Texas A&M’s Jace Sternberger and Issac Nauta out of Georgia. Meanwhile, Dawson Knox from Ole Miss, Utah State’s Dax Raymond and Donald Parham from Stetson are some mid-round talents that should be available in day 3 when the Saints have more draft picks.

Listen to what Detillier had to say about all those tight ends below:
