No one missing from practice on day 4 of training camp. Defensive ends Alex Okafor and Camron Jordan got a veterans day of rest though for the 2nd day in pads.  Players were treated to snowball post practice and the team even let the media grab one too. I decided to take a break from my usual and tried a new flavor. Almond crème was mighty tasty and helped me forget about the sun’s rays beaming down making me feel like I was under a broiler.

Return game going to reality TV?

I mentioned yesterday that nobody has stood out as a positive in the Saints return game.  Coach Payton confirmed that after practice saying the competition is wide open, but in a very unique way.

"Our return game is kind of like The Bachelor right now. We got about 12 contestants, all with roses. We don’t know who our returner is going to be, and if she doesn’t like any of them, we’ll bring in more."

Tre’Quan = The Truth

You don’t want to get overexcited about a rookie since we are still in the very early goings of camp….BUT, Tre’Quan Smith keep making plays consistently. He made contested grab on the sideline toward the end of the day on a pass from JT Barett.  Drew Brees was so excited that he ran down field to congratulate Smith. The hype train is just chugging out the station with this 3rd round pick out of UCF

You get PBU, you get a PBU, EVERYONE gets a PBU!

The defense has looked like a unit on a mission this camp. They are playing faster and with good reason since most of the players have Dennis Allen’s scheme down pat. That continuity with a coordinator will do wonders for confidence since guys are just reacting to a play and not thinking. Safety Marcus Williams has stood out as he looks to avenge the “Minnestoa Miss” from the playoffs.  Williams hauled in a one handed INT of a tipped ball today.

Dan the man Arnold

A player you could out in the “dark horse” category to make the roster is Dan Arnold. He was on injured reserve all of last year and has converted to tight end from wide receiver in 2018. The 6ft6, 220 pound pass catcher has been all over the field making plays.
