Teddy Bridgewater was the talk of the Saints first preseason game, but the Fleur Di Li D certainly was not.   The Minnesota Vikings racked up 460 total yards on offense in their 34-25 victory in the Superdome. You can’t just blame the 2nd and 3rd teamers either since Kirk Cousins finished 4 of 4 passing for 61 yards and a touchdown. Even more discouraging was the 213 yards on the ground Minny managed to rack up and ended up averaging 8.5 yards per play. WOOF!

“I think we can tackle better,” said head coach Sean Payton. “I think our pas level is going to have to be better. I’m sure when we watch the tape there are going to be a number of details that you want you’ll want to pull your hair out with, and yet that’s why we’re watching it and that’s why heading into the better part of the 2nd week of camp.”

The Saints will practice Saturday, but that session is closed to the public.  The team will practice in front of fans Sunday and Monday before heading out to Los Angles for joint sessions with the Chargers.  Preseason game #2 against the Bolts is on Sunday Aug. 18th.

Do remember back in 2011 when Payton tore his MCL and fractured the tibia in his left leg after a collision on the sideline in Tampa Bay? 8 years later, coach showed quicker reflexes at age 55 when a Vikings player almost took him out in the 3rd quarter.
