The center position was no longer stable after Max Unger retired, so the Saints signed Nick Easton to a 4 year, $24 million deal. The 26 year old played 665 snaps at guard and 463 at center for Minnesota in 2016 & 2017.

Easton first signed as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Baltimore Ravens in 2015 out of Harvard, then was traded to the 49ers.  But, his stint in San Francisco did not last long and Easton was deal to the Vikings.  He fractured his ankle in week 16 of the 2017 season, then missed all of last year after suffering a neck injury in training camp.

Easton stands 6ft3, 300 lbs. and  will compete with Cameron Tom and Will Clapp for the starting center spot in 2019 after Unger surprisingly retired a month before turning 33.
