We are another step closer to football Who Dat Nation! The Saints are holding rookie minicamp this weekend for their drafted and undrafted players to get a taste of what upcoming organized team activates are going to be like.  It consists of three days of workouts, with the media getting an opportunity to take a peek at the session on Saturday.  Two of the Saints drafted defensive backs, Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and Saquan Hampton, were quick to make an impression.

Gardner-Johnson was selected in the 4th round out of Florida, while Hampton came from Rutgers and got drafted in the 6th round.  The duo seems to have already formed a bond on and off the field.

“That’s my boy,” smiled Gardner-Johnson when asked about their relationship. “I met him at the combine; so it’s kind of a coincidence how we ended up at the same place. We just have to look out for each other.”

A strength of this Saints team, that has been vital to their recent success, is the brotherhood formed between the players in the locker room that spills onto the field. It allows guys to talk freely without there being any worries that someones' feelings are going to get hurt.  These two Saints draft picks seem like they are going to mesh well with the rest of the group when OTA’s open on the 21st.

“Being at safety, you have to communicate. It’s probably the biggest key,” replied Hampton. “We both love to compete. So, we’re both leaning from each other; picking each other’s brain and helping each other just communicate.”
