Saints rookie camp opens with all draft picks signed

Saints rookie minicamp opens today and this morning the team announced that all of their 2019 draft picks have been signed.  

2nd round selection Erik McCoy is a 6ft4, 315 pound center that started all 39 games he appeared in during his three seasons at Texas A&M. 


Chauncey Gardner-Johnson was drafted in the 4th round out of Florida. He finished his career with the Gators racking up 161 tackles, 17 passes defensed, nine interceptions (three returned for touchdowns), and four sacks.


In the 6th round, the Black & Gold added another DB in Saquan Hampton.  He was voted a team captain last season and earned the Homer Hazel Award as Rutgers’ Most Valuable Player and All-Big Ten honorable mention after a breakout season, recording 65 tackles, three for loss, three interceptions, 16 passes defensed and one fumble recovery. 

With their first 7th round selction, the Saints selected Alize Mack.  He stands  6ft5, 247-pound and had a breakout season at Notre dame in 2018 with 36 catches for 360 yards and three touchdowns. 

With the Black & Gold's last pick of the 2019 draft they added Idaho linebacker Kaden Elliss.  He was a first team All-Big Sky selection last year, recording 60 tackles, leading the Vandals with 16 stops for loss and seven sacks.
