More action on the free agent market for the Saints. They have added depth to the safety room, inking veteran D.J. Swearinger to a one year contact.

The 28-year-old was a 2nd round pick out of South Carolina in 2013 and joined the Black & Gold in December of last year after getting released by the Raiders.

Swearinger came to the Black & Gold when Vonn Bell was sidelined by a knee injury and rookie  C.J. Gardner-Johnson was dealing with a concussion. He played 33 snaps with 11 on special teams week 17 against the Carolina Panthers.

In his 10 year career, the 5ft10, 205 pound free safety has appeared in 99 games, racking up 411 tackles, 42 passes defended, 14 INTs, 4.5 sacks, 9 hits on the QB, 9 forced fumbles with 4 fumbles recovered and 13 tackles for loss.
