Dez Bryant was at his first Saints practice on Thursday, then on Friday in his 2nd session with the Black & Gold he reportedly tore his Achilles. Saints color commentator Deuce McAllister used a Mississippi metaphor to describe the situation.

“That’s buzzard luck for you. We hadn’t been with him for 48 hours”, exclaimed Deuce. “For the Saints, yes it’s tough. But, in a sense it’s someone they were trying to really work into something they had not someone that was a part of it. You really feel bad for him.”

The voice of the Saints Zach Strief fears is that it may be the end for the 30 year old wide receiver’s NFL career.

“I hate watching guys careers end without them wanting them to be done”, said Strief. “It’s really hard to imagine a scenario where he is going to go through this and come back and find his back onto a roster. It’s week 10, for an older player that’s a long recovery.”

The bad news on Bryant means the Saints will be in the market to add another receiver. Brandon Marshall and Kamar Aiken worked out for the team back on Tuesday and could be getting a call back.

Marshall is 34 years old and was cut by the Seahawks after 6 games this season. He made 11 catches for 136 yards a TD for them. Marshall started his career in Denver, then played for Miami, Chicago, the New York Jets then Giants and finally Seattle. In his 13 year career the 6-ft-5, 232 pound target has made 970 receptions for 12,351 yards and 83 TDs.

Aiken was on the Eagles roster to start 2018 but was let go on October 9th. The 29 year old has been with six NFL teams since going undrafted in 2011. Aiken’s best season was in 2015 with the Ravens when he 75 grabs for 944 yards and 5 touchdowns.
