Pelicans push for playoffs down to 4 games

March Madness is over, but the Final Four for the Pelicans is on! The Birds are in 7th place in the Western Conference at the moment and can clinch a postseason berth by winning 3 of their remaining 4 contests.  That quest starts out easy enough in Phoenix tonight. The Suns are awful, owning the NBA's worst record at 20-59. They have 2 victories in their last 33 games so a loss in the desert could mean forgedaboudit for the playoffs.

The Pels will fly from Arizona to California right after the game and get to face the 2nd seeded Warriors in game 2 of a road back-to-back. No big deal, right? Oh, and Golden State just lost at Indiana, which had Coach Steve Kerr ticked off at his ballclub's effort. That's bad news for New Orleans since Kerr giving some guys time off Saturday night for rest now isn't likely.

The 3 game Western conference road gauntlet concludes in Hollywood on Monday against a Clippers team still alive and fighting for a playoff spot. Then the Pelicans get to come home for the regular season finale against San Antonio on Wednesday. The Spurs are struggling, having lost 2 in a row and 4 of their last 6.

Anthony Davis has played in the postseason once in his 6 years in the NBA. He and the Pels coincidentally got into the 2015 playoffs by beating the Spurs in the final game of the season. Could we see that same scenario occur again?
