Dealin' Dell Demps was shuffling the deck at the NBA draft last night. The Pelicans GM made a move to shoot up 9 spots in order to snag Frank Jackson with the 1st pick of round 2. The guard out of Duke just turned 19 years old  last month but felt he was ready to head to the NBA after one season under Coack K.

“I have all the confidence in the world in myself.  It’s been a lifelong dream and goal of mine.  I saw it in front of my eyes and wanted to go and take it.  It’s something I’ve been planning on doing.  To be a part of the NBA has always been a dream of mine and I wanted to go and take it.”

The 6ft3 205 pounder is a shooting guard that can also play the point.  He averaged just under 11 points in 25 minutes a game for the Blue Devils. That's pretty good for a freshman as he showcased a knack for getting to the bucket and scoring.  His thirst for attacking the rim was evident coming out of high school when he won the dunk contest that was part of the McDonald’s All-American game in 2016.

Jackson isn't 100% right now.  He underwent right foot surgery back in May and is still recovering. That means he will not be able to take part in the Summer League which starts in Las Vegas on July 7th. Demps said after the draft that the rookie will be ready to go come training camp time in September. Jackson is very upbeat about his recovery.

“It’s going great. I think I’m only a couple weeks out of really going one hundred percent. Surgery went wonderful, the healing process is good, and I’m just excited to get to work and get going.”

Jackson will likely need 2 to 3 years to develop in the pros so I wouldn't expect big return this season on the teams investment.  If I do know one thing for sure though , its that I like his style....
