Saints GM & Executive VP Mickey Loomis has massaged the salary cap to free up some more money to spend on free agency this year. Quarterback Drew Brees has restructured his contract creating almost $11 million dollars in cap space to boost available money to around $16M. Brees' salary will be $11 M for 2019 and gets a roster bonus of $12 M, as part of a two-year, $50 million contract he signed last season. The negative is that restructuring means there will be a dead cap hit of $21.3M for 2020 season whether or not Brees plays or retires.

New Orleans is hosting visits from tight end Jared Cook and pass rusher Ezekiel Ansah, plus are still trying to re-sign Teddy Bridgewater. The QB was believed to be close to a deal with the Saints before free agency kicked-off yesterday, but he was in Miami for a visit with the Dolphins last night.
