The intensity level at the Saints facility leading up to the NFC championship game against the Rams can certainly be felt in the media room. The national folks are here already to cover the Saints side of things and the players seem very calm & confident heading in Sunday's contest against L.A.. The Black & Gold have bested the Rams twice already; the preseason and the regular season. Now a trip to the Super Bowl is on the line, but this Saints squad doesn't seem over anxious.

Cornerback Marshon Lattimore

Challenge the Rams offense presents

“Tempo, that’s the biggest thing they do. Once we get in, we’ve got to get lined up real quick because that’s what they do. They get lined up real quick and run it. They play real quick. We’ve got to be good with that and if we’re good with I feel like then we’re going to do good”

What do LA WRs Brandon Cooks and Robert Woods do well?

“Cooks is fast and Woods; he does everything for them.  He plays the slot, plays the edge, the Z, he plays a lot of positions. He can get in and out of his breaks, he’s a good receiver and Cooks takes the top off a defense.”

2 big INTs last week, are you playing your best ball right now?

Jus making plays that come my way, that’s really it. As far as playing my best football, I’m just making plays now.  Earlier in the season I had plays to make that I didn't’t make. I know I have to make those plays, I have to be the one to make those plays. It’s a bigger stage right now, so I had to do the job for my team.”

Defensive end Marcus Davenport

Importance of setting the tone defensively

The first thing always is to stop the run, then after that you can have some fun.  But, its going to be a challenge. We take pride in stopping the run, so this should be fun.”

On being a game away from Super Bowl in rookie season

“You know some times I forget. I think we are so caught up in this process that we do take for granted that is one game away. But we don’t take THIS game for granted. We know we still have to win to get there.”

What impresses you when you watch tape of Aaron Donald?

“His get off, his violence, his strength. I love the way he bends the corner, he can actually speed up through his turns. He’s a real violent player, he can come off and play you run or pass and still beat you even if you get the jump. I think a lot of people are scared of that.”

QB/ WR / RB / TE / Special teamer Taysom Hill

Where do you get your athletic prowess?

My parents had me involved in pretty much every sport growing up, I think that certainly helps. Then when I got to high school there was a kid that was playing that had started for a couple of years and so he was going to play quarterback my sophomore year.  So, my high school coach saw an opportunity to get me on the field and so I played receiver as a sophomore in high school. Once I got to college none of this other stuff was in play other then I ran the ball a lot as a QB at BYU. So a lot of the stuff down the field and the physicality of the game I’m used to, which has helped me transition to some other things.”

What are those conversations like when Coach Payton is selling you on some of these installs on gameday?

“I don’t know if you’ve been around Coach Payton but there is not much conversation.  It’s hey; this is the personnel, this is the play, this is what you are doing.  But, there are certainly coaching points. And when you get with a coaching staff or a coach that believes and you feel that and then he shows it by creating opportunities for you to get on the field and makes plays, it goes a long way.”

Asked about possibly being an “X” factor in Sunday’s game

“It’s not something I necessarily think about a ton, to be honest.  I pay a lot of attention to what I’m expected to do when my number gets called and I make sure that I’m ready. But, I don’t think about anything else that goes into it.

Wide Receiver Ted Ginn Jr

On Michael Thomas

“He has every tool that you could have as a wide out. He can be crafty with you, he could be big boy and strong arm you, finesse you. He’s got it all in his game.”

Seizing the opportunity of being one game from making it to the Super Bowl

It doesn't’t come along all the time but when you put yourself in positions like we did, to be able to be where we’re at, we want to seize every moment. We know it’s not going to be a blow out. We know that it’s going to be a dog fight, it’s going to be a battle. We just want to go out and play penalty free, do our assignments and have fun while we’re doing it.”
