Before this season, Demario Davis had never experienced what it was like to play in the NFL’s postseason. Now, he is just a game away from going to the Super Bowl. The 29 year arrived as a free agent and quickly established himself as a leader on and off the field for the Black & Gold.

Davis led the Saints in tackles while his 5 sacks were 3rd best and 12.5 tackles for loss 2nd most his first year in New Orleans.  He has a calm, cool demeanor about him and has provided consistency and stability in the linebacking group which has been searching for that presence since the days of Jonathan Vilma.

He got a good taste of what life was like in the AFC playing for the Jets and Browns for the first 6 years of his career so knows what the crowds are like in big time cities like New York, Pittsburgh and New England are like.  Nobody, nowhere compares to what New Orleans is like on game day.

“We got the best stadium and the best stadium in the NFL; point blank, period,” said Davis. “It’s definitely electrifying to have them behind us and it works in our favor. Definitely in our favor last week; it’s sure to be even more intense this week.”

The Who Dat Nation broke the noise meter last Sunday against the Eagles in the Divisional round of the playoffs. This Sunday the LA Rams come back to the Dome for the NFC title game.

“I’ve been on the other side of the ball coming into this stadium and there’s nothing like anywhere else in the NFL,” Davis added. “When we electrify our crowd and get them behind us, the opposition is going to struggle on the other side of the ball regardless.”

Davis was the Saints top tackler against Philadelphia and looks to help lead the defensive charge against a Rams Sunday at 2:05pm on WWL Saints radio.
