Winning sure does feed a need and the Saints regained that high after taking care of business in Tampa Bay.  They are 8-2 heading into a week 12 matchup against the 5-5 Panthers.   This is the first of two meetings against Carolina; the re-match will be the final contest of the regular season.

The Panthers are currently 3 games behind the Saints for the lead in the division, but still have the belief they can catch New Orleans for the NFC South crown. Carolina will be bringing one of the most dangerous threats in the NFL to the Superdome Sunday.  Running back Christian McCaffery is putting up MVP type numbers totaling over 1,500 rushing and receiving with 11 touchdowns.

“One of his traits that he has, like Alvin (Kamara), is that they're hard to real square hit on,” said Saints head coach Sean Payton. “He can edge a defender, play with good pad level. It's one of the things that that he does exceptionally well.”

The Black & Gold will miss Cam Newton not being under center.  The Saints have won 4 in-a-row over the Panthers will him at quarterback, but lost the last time the team meet with Kyle Under as Carolina’s QB. That was a week 17 match-up in the Superdome last season in which many Saints were resting having secured the top seed in the NFC. Allen took over for the injured Newton back in week 3, so the Saints have plenty of other game footage to study on him

“He’s someone that's confident,” said Payton about last year’s undrafted rookie out of Houston. “I think he's got real good athleticism he can get out of the pocket and make throws on the run. He's got a good arm. He's played well for him this year.

Allen has completed 62% of his passes for 1.923 yards, 10 TDs and 9 interceptions.  Four of those picks came in a loss last week against Atlanta.

Coach Payton recently got engaged and shared a picture from the evening on Twitter.

Does #NOLAWedding mean that he and Skylene Montgomery will be tying the knot here?  Cheers to 2020 bringing many celebrations for Payton.
