Most of the buzz around the Pelicans following the NBA draft was locked in on the top overall pick in the draft Zion Williamson.  But, some of the birds others rookies showed why they were brought to the nest.

The 8th overall pick, Jaxson Hayes put on a show in his Summer League debut scoring 28 points with 4 rebounds and 3 blocks leading the Pels to a 109-72 triumph over the Chicago Bulls. Zion is known for his rim rocking dunks, but the 6ft11 Hayes made the crowd gasp with a nasty one hand jam.

Postgame, Hayes was quick to credit his monster slam to the pass from fellow rookie Nickeil Alexander-Walker. The guard was the 17th overall pick and finished the night with 23 points, 8 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks in his first action of the Summer League.  Rounding out the trio of Pels playing in their first game was 2nd rounder Didi Louzada Silva, who scored 13 points going 3-4 from 3 point range.

The young flock from New Orleans has another Summer League contest tomorrow night when they face the Cleveland Cavaliers.  Tip-off in Las Vegas is at 6:30pm CST.
