Saints cornerback Patrick Robinson has been placed on injured reserve with a broken ankle. He was carted off the field in Sunday’s win over the Falcons and was thought to have a high ankle sprain, but the injury turned out to be worse.

It’s unclear whether P-Rob will be able to return this season. Players put on IR must miss at least eight weeks, but can be brought back following that time.

Robinson was signed in the offseason to a four-year, $20 million contract which brought him back to the Saints.  He won a Super Bowl last season with the Eagles and has previously played for the Chargers and Colt. The 31 year old was New Orleans first-round draft pick in 2010.
