Week 2 brings the Browns to the Superdome. They didn’t lose in their opening game, but didn’t win wither.  Nevertheless they have dominated the series over the Black and Gold with 13 wins and 4 losses all time. What did Payton see out of Cleveland in their tie against Pittsburg?

“It was an unusual game. First off, a weather game with the amount of rain. That is evident when you watch it. A lot of turnovers, especially by Pittsburgh. I can't recall seeing a game quite like that. I thought Cleveland fought back. If you watch that game on film you feel like throughout the course of the game that Pittsburgh’s going to win this game and then Cleveland fights back and hangs around long enough, goes into overtime and at that point neither team can win it in (the end of) overtime. I thought both defenses played well. It was an unusual week one game.”

Cleveland is a franchise that hasn’t had much success over the years, but has has success against Saints quarterbacak Drew Brees, who is just 1-2 against the Browns since arriving in New Orleans in 2006.

“I remember when we lost to them in ’14,” said Brees. “I remember when we lost to them here in ‘10. Man, they’ve been tough games against these guys. So obviously, when you only play them once every four years, a lot of things change. It’s a new staff, a lot of new players and that kind of thing. But bottom line is they're extremely talented, really on both sides the ball offense and defense. But as I sit there and look at their defense, they’ve got a lot of really talented players. Obviously, Gregg Williams has a good scheme so we’ve got our work cut out for us.”

Gregg Williams is a name Saints fans a very familair with. He commanded the Saints defense en-route to a Super Bowl victory in 2009 and is now the d-coordinator with the Browns.  Brees knows what to expect from a Williams led defense.

“It's an aggressive style. He gets those guys playing hard. They’re multiple, meaning they do a lot of things and do a lot of things well. Looking at them from last year to this year, they kind of revamped their secondary in the draft. Denzel Ward, high pick. And (they) go out and get some free agent guys as well that have really bolstered that secondary. (They have a) Really good linebacker corps, really good front seven (and) one of the most elite pass rushers in the league in Myles Garrett. So they're a formidable defense.”

The Saints and Browns face off in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Sunday with kickoff scheduled for just after 12:00 p.m.
