The Saints will be without two of their linebackers for week 14.  Kiko Alonso (thigh) and A.J. Klein (knee) are out Sunday’s noon kickoff against San Francisco.  Fullback Zach Line (knee) and guard Andrus Peat (forearm) will also not play.

Left tackle Terron Armstead is listed as questionable.  He was limited all week in practice with an ankle issue. Will Clapp is also questionable with an elbow injury.

The team also put TE Jason Vander Laan on the reserve / injured list. He appeared on the injury report Thursday with a head injury.

Looking at the 49ers:

S Jaquiski Tartt (ribs) out

DT Julian Taylor (knee) out

WR Marquis Goodwin (knee/foot) questionable

WR Dante Pettis (knee) questionable

The Saints will be hosting a stingy defense that is giving up just 15 point per game and is 2nd in the NFL in sacks.  Sean Payton was asked if the Black & Gold’s offense is executing where he wants them to be right now.

“Look, I think the answer would be no,” said Payton. “I think our red zone numbers have to get better. That’s something that we continue to work on. Our ball security has been fantastic. Our third downs have gotten better. But, the thing that would stand out is just the red zone efficiency. I think our numbers in the past been better and I think we can be better.”

Fans always have the Superdome rocking for game days, and the Saints will need every bit of help they can get Sunday against a San Fran offense putting up 29 points per game.

“I think we’ll have a great atmosphere,” Payton said. “Our fans are smart, they’re football people.  They understand the importance of the game and they understand the significance that they can have on an opposing team.”
