Anthony Davis may not stay with the Pelicans, but it sure doesn’t sound like a trade to the Lakers is happening. Team owner Gayle Benson has reportedly made it very clear that New Orleans will not be dealing Davis there.

ESPN’s Jackie MacMullan said on Brian Windhort’s podcast that:

“We have been told, I think, through channels – most of us have heard this same scuttlebutt – that Gayle Benson has basically told him, “To the Lakers, over my dead body.”

Now that the Pels won the draft lottery and own the top pick in the draft, there’s at least a greater chance Davis would want to stay in New Orleans to team up with perceived first round draft pick Zion Williamson.

Another major reason should be that New Orleans can offer him a five year, $240 million Supermax extension. He requested a trade prior to the NBA’s trade deadline in February, and is was leaked that the Lakers were high on his list of preferred destinations.

According to WWL's Seth Dunlap and Fletcher Mackle from WDSU, MacMullan's comments are false, ridiculous, absurd and untrue.
