Who was worried about Drew Brees getting a new deal with the Saints? Definitely not WWL’s Deuce McAllister; he knew the two sides were heading towards an extension.

Word came down Tuesday morning that Brees inked a 2 year contract for $50 million, with $27 million guaranteed.  Deuce is anxious to uncover more on it.

“I would love to find out a little more details on the deal. But, from all indications, this may be a year to year deal. I think there’s a team option for year two, but overall it gets this season out of the way.”

ESPN confirms the deal is a one year deal with a team option after the first.

“This is very, very, very team friendly,” adds Deuce. “He could have really held out and pressed the issue a lot more. I think he did a deal that allows them some flexibility to be able to go and sign some more guys.”

With Brees’s contract out of the way the Saints turn their focus to the rest of free agency, which officially opens tomorrow. The team has been linked to names like TE Jimmy Graham as well as CBs Malcolm Butler and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie
