The NFL offseason is speeding by. Organized team activities concluded last week and now minicamp just wrapped up for the Saints.  Coach Sean Payton must have liked what he saw from his team this week because he cut Thursdays session short; letting players off an hour early.

The Cajun Cannon Bobby Hebert felt that the defense came out on top the final day and he's been impressed with a player who’s season ended early a year ago after suffering an ankle injury,

“I thought the defense had the edge making plays,” said Hebert. “Patrick Robinson getting an interception two days in a row is a good sign he is back from injury. I’d be surprised if PJ Williams beats out P-Rob to be that nickel cornerback, but the more depth the more competition.”

If you want to know about running backs or really anything football, Deuce McAllister is a master at breaking things down. He is the franchise’s all-time leading rusher and has an impressive football IQ that really shines during Saints broadcasts. Mark Ingram is no longer with the team, but Latavious Murray was signed to be that #2 guy behind star Alvin Kamara. Who will be the Black & Gold’s 3rd option in the backfield though? Last season it was Dwayne Washington, but there are a number of players competing for that role like Devine Ozigbo, Javorius Allen and Matthew Dayes.

“Can they pick up a blitz?” questioned Deuce. “That is critical for any guy that’s going to be in that role. If you are going to be the 3rd tail back on this squad, you’ve got to show that you can pick up the blitz.”
