Brees, Saints looking for redemption in Falcons rematch

LISTEN: Drew Brees talks "QB To QB" with Bobby Hebert

The New Orleans Saints can check a major preseason goal off the list before the calendar even turns December, but to do so, they have to accomplish one of the NFL’s toughest feats: a road win on a Thursday night.

And they have to do so against the team that ended their six-game winning streak just a little over two weeks ago.

Saints quarterback Drew Brees says it’s a pair of stiff challenges that the team will have to overcome.

“Physically just getting your body back from the game on Sunday,” Brees said. “It’s only four days rest before the next game, and obviously it’s a road game as well. Combine all that with compressing seven days of preparation into four, and it makes for a challenge.”

Brees spoke about the matchup during his weekly appearance on WWL Radio’s “QB To QB” segment with Bobby Hebert on Tuesday night.

“Listen, I think we look at that first game, and we understand our deficiencies in that game,” Brees said. “They obviously played extremely well, and we did not execute very well. There were jus ta lot of mistakes made that were very untimely and very uncharacteristic of us. So I think we learned a lot from that, and we understand it really is about our execution every time we step on the field, regardless of who our opponent was. If we take care of that, we’ll be alright.”

Of course, the reward for a win in Atlanta is more than just symbolic revenge. The Saints would clinch the 2019 NFC South division title with a victory on Thanksgiving night. Brees and the Saints kick off against Atlanta at 7:20pm Thursday night on WWL. Our coverage starts that afternoon at 3pm. You can hear the full audio of “QB To QB” by clicking the podcast link.
