Brees expects tough mental, physical matchup in Tennessee

With 80 points scored over their last two games combined, the Saints offense seems to be heating up just in time for postseason play. Quarterback Drew Brees says one huge positive in recent weeks has been tight end Jared Cook's performance as he gets more and more comfortable catching passes from #9. Brees says Cook, along with the Saints' host of other weapons, are helping keep the Saints' top pass-catcher available and open.

"When you have all these guys out there at once, it's like a pick-your-poison," Brees said. "Obviously Mike Thomas gets a lot of attention, and so I think in obvious passing downs, a lot of teams will choose to double him and do different things. That's gonna open up matchups for the other guys, especially a guy like Jared Cook."

This Sunday, the Saints face off with a stout Tennessee Titans defensive secondary that features, among others, former Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro. Brees says they're a versatile bunch, and he'll have to be on his game to outwit them.

"It's nickel, it's dime," Brees said. "These guys are pressure players. They're cover players. They're just really multiple in a lot of things they can do, and they play the scheme well."

Brees and the Saints kick off against the Tennessee Titans at noon Sunday on WWL. Our coverage starts that morning at 8. You can hear the full audio of Brees talking "QB To QB" with Bobby Hebert by clicking the podcast link.
