Saints' Davenport: Stopping Fournette key to stopping Jags

On the heels of his breakout game of the 2019 season, a two-sack affair against Jameis Winston and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Saints second-year defender Marcus Davenport joined Kristian Garic for the America Bank & Trust Players Show.

Davenport wasted no time moving on to the next matchup for the Black and Gold, a Sunday date with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

"They're a real good team. Of course they have a really good running back and a really good quarterback. It's gonna be a full fight, both run and pass," Davenport said.

He also revealed one not-so-secret key to the defensive gameplan: Stop Leonard Fournette.

"That's one of the keys," Davenport said. "I wanna say he rushed for 260-something. He's just been a force. We'll have to move the O-line and try to stop him and his running game."

Fournette has racked up 512 rushing yards through Jacksonville's first five games of the season.

The Saints take on the Jaguars in Jacksonville Sunday at noon on WWL. Our coverage starts that morning at 8. You can hear the full audio of Davenport's appearance on the American Bank & Trust Players Show by clicking the podcast link.
