Palermo: Not time for Tiger fans to panic... yet

Clock is ticking for LSU to click on the diamond

A slew of injuries. Lapses in production both on the mound and at the plate. Is now the time for LSU baseball fans to panic? The Tigers’ 16-9 pounding at the hands of Florida Thursday night certainly wasn’t an instiller of confidence for the Tiger faithful.

WWL LSU insider Jeff Palermo says thought that he doesn’t believe the Bayou Bengals have fully entered the doom-and-gloom zone.

“Well I would say they’re certainly going through a rough point,” Palermo said. “They’re going through a rough moment right now. You thought maybe last year was the year they went through the injury bug, but it’s really caught them right now.”

Appearing on the Friday edition of WWL Radio’s Sports Talk, Palermo said there’s still time for the Tigers to turn their fortunes around.

“I still think this team, if they can get themselves back together, get healthy, get [pitcher] Zack Hess right, this is a team that could be very dangerous,” Palermo said. “They’ve shown that they can go on the road, beat good teams. But right now they’re a shell of their former selves. They’re walking wounded.”
