Bobby Hebert's keys to Saints victory over Vikings

For the third time in thirteen months, the Saints will play the Vikings inMinnesota.  Of course we all remember how the Saints season ended last year in Minnesota, no need to relive that, right?  It’s a new season and a new game.  Last year is just that….last year.  The Cajun Cannon Bobby Hebert highlights his keys to victory for the Saints.

Close out strong

“I think both teams at times have struggled to get off to fast starts, but the Saints have been unbelievably in the second half this season.  The Saints have to continue to close out games, like they have been. Minnesota is a really strong second half team.  We have to be better than they are at closing out,” Hebert explains.

Convert on 3rd down

Another area to watch is moving the chains and sustaining drives.  “Can the Saints convert on third down? The Vikings have the No. 1 third down defense in the NFL,” Hebert points out.

Protect the football

“The Saints have to protect the football!” Hebert is emphatic about the fact that the Vikings are +3 for the season in the takeaway/giveaway ratio.

Run the football

Hebert thinks the difference maker for the Saints will be the running game, “I think the game could come down to which running game can help out their quarterback.  Kirk Cousins and Drew Brees are going to have success.  We have the number one run defense; the Vikings have the number five best run defense.  Something hast to give. I like our chances with Mark Ingram, and Alvin Kamara.  That will help Drew Brees and the Saints overtake the Vikings,” concluded Bobby.

The Saints are 1 & 1/2 point underdogs Sunday against the Vikings in Minnesota.  “Anytime the Saints are getting points I like it.  Take the Saints whenever you can when they are getting points,” said the Cajun Cannon

Minnesota’s defense has been really good this year. Not as strong as they were last year, but still pretty salty.  This will be a big mental hurdle to overcome for the Saints.  If they lose to the Vikings for a third straight time, doubt could creep in that the Saints can’t beat these guys.  Buckle up! This should be fun primetime on Sunday Night Football!
