Bobby Hebert: Alleva's ouster as LSU AD likely fueled by big behind-the-scenes Benjamins

Just two days after the reinstatement of LSU men’s basketball coach Will Wade, athletics director Joe Alleva is now the one on the outside looking in at LSU sports. While he will transition to a new role in the LSU administration, is time overseeing the various Tiger teams has ended.

WWL’s Bobby Hebert commented on the announcement, saying it’s a decision that smells like green.

“It’s always behind the scenes as far as a financial standpoint,” Hebert said. “That’s why, if you look at LSU’s programs, across the board, have they ever been this prosperous as far as different sports teams being ranked and being relevant. I just look at it at face value, and it’s kind of puzzling.

That’s why I always bring it back to if you have people with a lot of stroke and a lot of money, and they’re giving a lot to the university, they have a lot of say-so.

“LSU would never admit that,” Hebert continued. “It’s all about the Benjamins, the money as far as what you put into the program… That has a lot to do with it going forward.”
