Saints running back Mark Ingram was back at the team's training facility today for mandatory mini camp, despite being absent throughout OTAs.  Many had speculated that Ingram was unhappy about not receiving a contract extension heading into the final year of his current deal with the organization, and that missing OTAs and voluntary workouts were a way for him to use leverage to get a new deal done.  He said today that is not the case.

"No, that's the narrative that the media wants to create.  I'm not holding out.  I never told Sean (Payton) or Mickey (Loomis) that I was holding out.  That's just the narrative that the media created."

Ingram explained that he preferred to train on his own this offseason, rather than participate in voluntary team exercise.

"I wanted to train on my own this offseason.  I wanted to switch up my offseason regimen this year, and felt like I had some things to work on personally that I could get done better by myself."

The veteran running back was recently suspended by the NFL for a violation of the league's performance enhancing drug policy.   He fought the suspension, but the original four game ban was upheld.

"I fought it hard," he explained.  "I don't agree with it, but I'm going to serve my suspension and I'm going to be ready when it's time (to come back)."

While a PED suspension always taints a players legacy to some degree, it's not his legacy that Ingram is worried about.  He is more concerned about letting down all of the people who have supported him through the years.

"I love my teammates, I love my family, I love this organization," he said.  "I love all of my fans, and Who Dat Nation.  Everyone who has supported me from day one.  Just to have to miss time, that's going to hurt me.  I love everybody who supports me.  Everybody who still cares about me is in my corner.   I'll be OK.  I'm moving forward, not looking back."
