LSU baseball will likely be without starting pitchers Ma'Khail Hilliard and A.J. Labas during regional play this weekend in Corvallis, OR.  Head coach Paul Mainieri told reporters today that both pitchers' arms were fatigued and they will likely be held out in an abundance of caution.

The timing is bad, but LSU went through something similiar last year when freshman starter Eric Walker developed arm and elbow soreness at the College World Series.  Walker was allowed to pitch and ended up tearing ligaments in his elbow, leading to Tommy John surgery that has kept him out all of this season.

That disaster was likely fresh on the of Mainieri and the coaching staff when making their pitching plans.  They don't want to risk further injury to Hilliard or Labas after each pitched well beyond epectations in their freshman season.
