The John Curtis Patriots defeated the Catholic High Bears of Baton Rouge 49-7 in the Division I state football championship to win their first state championship in five seasons.

Catholic High was the defending champs, but it was John Curtis that proved their status as pre-game favorites was no fluke.  The Patriots also avenged last years loss to the Bears in the championship game.  Curtis joins Rummel and Jesuit as Catholic League teams that have won championships since the public/private split and the inception of the Division I classification.

The championship gives John Curtis their 27th title in the school's illustrious football history.
