Deuce says Saints still have room for improvement

The team is 5-2 after beating the Bears

The New Orleans Saints got a hard fought 20-12 victory against the Chicago Bears at home yesterday.  While the win was the team's fifth straight, it was at times sloppy especially towards the end.  Saints turnovers and other miscues gave the Bears multiple possessions in the 4th quarter with the opportunity to tie or take the lead.  Saints all time leading rusher Deuce McAllister says that the ugly win proves there's still a ways to go for this young team.

"There's room for improvement," Deuce said.  "You've won five games, and you've won them in a variety of ways, but there's room for improvement."

Even though it was ugly, a win is a win in the NFL.  Few people inside or outside the organization are going to complain about a victory after three straight 7-9 seasons.

"At the end of the day you did enough to win the ball game.  Sometimes that just shows that you are just a pretty good team," Deuce said a bit more optimistically. It's always good to beat an NFC opponent.  It preserves your opportunity to go, to keep your lead in the NFC South."

Next week the struggling Tampa Bay Bucaneers will come to the Superdome, giving New Orleans another opportunity to show improvment while beating a seemingly inferior opponent.  Until then, relish that this team is 5-2 and have their sights squarely set on their first division title in four seasons.
