Scoot: Does defying orders to slow the spread reveal stupidity?

March 30, 2020 - 1:02 pm

A church outside of Baton Rouge, LA defied Governor John Bel Edwards’ “stay-at-home” order and attracted an estimated crowd of 500 to a church service yesterday.  The Life Tabernacle Church in Central, LA held a Sunday service and if it happens again - state police should bust up the service.

NOPD stopped a second line parade that occurred over the weekend in New Orleans.

There are reports that at some grocery stores social distancing is being ignored in favor of what may be a desire to socialize.

What don’t people understand? Is the flagrant ignoring of the orders from the governor and the mayor the result of stupidity - lack of information - or the brazen attitude that COVID-19 is not a serious threat to EVERYONE? It’s one of the aforementioned - but I’m not sure which one. Perhaps the ignoring of the “stay-at-home” orders - which include social distancing - is a combination of all of the above.

Whatever the reason - it can no longer be tolerated. The City of New Orleans must continue to use its police department to arrest ANYONE who does not follow the orders set in place to slow the spread of the coronavirus. And the state needs to use the State Police to stop churches or ANYONE that defies the orders set up to save lives.

Emphasized are the words EVERYONE and ANYONE because the rules are to be followed by EVERYONE! Period!
