I'm not surprised by Governor Edwards' decision. A number of other states have begun to take similar action based on guidance from the CDC, NIH, and others. If you think of these orders as concentric circles, you can see we're getting closer and closer to even more significant limitations of freedom to move around at will.

It will be interesting to see just how far out this event is going to carry. By flattening the curve, you're elongating the event. So this will take some time.

I do think a lot of people have already heeded the advice on social distancing and limiting contact with others. With the stay at home order issued, obviously even more will follow the guidelines. The order currently lasts until April 12, and I think that's a sound thing to do in order to re-evaluate where we are.

I do think that it sort of creates a false hope that this could be a two or three week event. It is anything but that, though. We're looking at this lasting until at least the middle of the summer where we might get some relaxation of these orders. Only time will tell.
