If you’re a whiskey fan, then this is the post for you. Please read on. If you’re not a whiskey fan, then this is the post for you. Please read on.

According to information gathered by analyzing images and posts from the 700,000 young people using the social drinking app BARTRENDr, whiskey is one of the most—if not the most—beloved types of liquor in 42 states.

That means only a handful of states don’t prefer the brown drink. (Here’s looking at you, Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.)

Interestingly enough, of the whiskey-loving states, two popular names tied for first: Jack Daniel’s and Fireball. (No, not Mr. 305. Yes, the sickly sweet cinnamon “whiskey.”)

We know, we know—a lot of you are going to have beef with the way this data shakes out. If you’re one of those people, don’t just sit there nursing your information hangover. Get back on the saddle and have yourself a little hair of the dog in the form of our poll below.

Pick your poison; tell us what should’ve taken the state’s number one spot!
