Two of the New Orleans area's best square off at the Shrine on Airline tonight as the John Curtis Patriots battle the Warren Easton Eagles.

Curtis comes into the matchup having passed three out of their four tests on the season so far. The Patriots are unbeaten against competition from the state of Louisiana. They began the year with a nine-point win over Landry-Walker, then really got rolling the past two weeks, torching Parkview Baptist 66-28 before shutting out Brother Martin 34-0.

The lone blemish on the Pats' record was a Week 2, 22-9 loss to Grayson High out of Georgia, the school ranked 10th in the nation according to Max Preps. Sitting at #2 in the 5A state poll, Curtis once again looks poised to makes some postseason noise, and a notch on their belt from tonight's foe would be quite impressive, but they'll have their work cut out for them.

Warren Easton enters the game as the newly-minted #1 team in 4A. They've already felled two of the Patriots' Catholic League rivals with blowout wins of Jesuit and Brother Martin to start the season. They earned a hard-fought two-point victory over Landry-Walker two weeks ago, then enjoyed a bye week last Friday.

In short, their three wins are every bit as impressive as the Patriots' as the two teams' resumes look remarkably similar, and both are regarded among the very best the Big Easy has to offer this season. But only one can come away with a victory tonight.
