Saints tender WR Snead but not CB Breaux

This likely means Snead is back but Breaux won't be

Saints restricted free agent WR Willie Snead was extended an RFA tender this morning.  The tender is a one year $1.9 million dollar tender that gives the Saints the "first right to refusal", according to ESPN.  In other words, the Saints would have the first opportunity to match an offer extended by another club. If the team decides not to match that offer, Snead could sign with another team and the Saints would not get any compensation for him.

Contrast that to New Orleans native, and Saints CB, Delvin Breaux who will likely be a free agent tomorrow.  Breaux is currently a restricted free agent, but I'm told the Saints are not going to offer him a qualifying restricted free agent offer.  Therefore Breaux will become a free agent.  Breaux missed all of 2017 withe a leg injury, and missed 10 games in 2016 with a leg injury.

Snead had a down season last year after an off the field D.U.I in the off-season that lead to a three game suspension, and suffered a hamstring injury upon his return and never really got into a groove in the Saints offense that was centered around Michael Thomas, and RB's Alvin Kamara, and Mark Ingram.

Also, according to a league source the Saints have expressed interest in free agent CB Patrick Robinson.  Robinson played a huge role for the Eagles last year as a slot corner.  The Eagles are working hard to retain him, but the Saints are in the market for a nickel corner.  Robinson started his career with the Saints in 2010 as the teams first round draft pick.
