Predicting all of the Saints selections this week

The NFL draft is less than a week away.  Here is my final mock draft, but this one is different, we will focus exclusively on the Saints selections.

(27) South Carolina TE Hayden Hurst:  The Saints identifed Tight End as a 'must' position to address this off season.  This pick makes sense if you can't trade back out of round 1 or don't get the right compensation.  Hurst is older, and more mature after originally choosing a pro baseball career out of high school.  He's 27, but I think has the most upside of all the Tight End's in the draft.

(91) LSU DE Arden Key:  At this time last year it would be hard to imagine Arden Key getting out of the top ten picks.  After some off the field issues, and poor production coupled with nagging injuries his stock has dropped big time.  He's one of the best pure pass rushers in the class but comes with a lot of questions.  The Saints have met with Key on four different occasions in the pre draft process.  This is a tremendous value pick for the Saints.

(127) Alabama RB Bo Scarbrough:  Mark Ingram is in the final year of his contract, plus the Saints don't have a true third RB that could spell Ingram if he gets banged up.  Scarborough would be a really good fit in this running game.

(147) UCLA C Scott Quessenberry: I know you might be rolling you're eyes but current Center Max Unger has two years remaining on his contract and will count for $8.7 million dollars against the cap next season.  What's wrong with drafting a guy that can play both Guard and Center?  Quessenberry gives you position flexibility while learning to play center at the NFL level.

(164) Middle Tennesee St WR Richie James:  Not the biggest receiver at 5'9" & 178 lbs but he can flat out run and the Saints are searching for a return guy in the kicking game. James would give you a shot at solving that.

(189) Wisconsin CB Nick Nelson:  You can never have enough defensive backs in today's pass happy NFL.  Nelson can also help you on special teams.  Nice under rated grab for the Saints.

(201) Ohio State S Damon Webb:  Again, you can never have enough defensive backs in the NFL.  Um hello? Let's not forget the Saints are basically Ohio State of the South.  Sean Payton and Mickey Loomis have had a lot of success recently in the draft with Ohio State players. (Mike Thomas, Vonn Bell, & Marshon Lattimore).

(245) Arkansas State DL Dee Liner:  I'm not sure I love any other pick more than this one, mostly for silly reasons. Look at his name. Dee Liner, and he'll be playing the D- Line....see what I did there? I could have so much fun with this. The Saints could use some depth at that position and the D lineman name Dee Liner from Arkansas Sate could provide depth.
