Boston Scott was impressive today, says Kristian Garic

RB Reps: With RB Mark Ingram sitting out organized team activities over a contract issue, it provides more touches for other running backs on the Saints roster.

Taking advantage of the extra reps was rookie Boston Scott.  In team drills, the speedy scat back ran a nice wheel route down the right sideline and was wide open for Taysom Hill to hit him in stride for a would be touchdown.

"That was a well executed route, and play.  Boston Scott showed me some burst on that play to get behind the defense," explained the cajun cannon Bobby Hebert.

Brees doing Brees things:  Literally you fawn over Brees every practice but today was one that just makes you shake your head in amazement.  Brees dropped two dimes in practice to WR Michael Thomas, one in zone coverage placing the ball over the linebacker and in front of the defensive back in coverage.  The other pass was on a deep out route off of play action that CB Marshon Lattimore had great coverage on Thomas, but the ball was placed so perfectly the coverage didn't matter.  Lattimore would have picked off a lesser quarterback, without the accuracy of Brees.

"Not too many QB's are going to even attempt that throw let alone be able to complete that pass.  Lattimore had excellent coverage but the ball was just thrown perfectly," said Deuce McAllister.

No need to worry about the 39 year old Brees, says Bobby Hebert.

He looks like a 20 year old, him and Ben Watson.  They don't look like old guys to me".

Fighting for spots:  One player that will be in a big roster battle this training camp will be fourth year veteran LB/DE Hau'oli Kikaha.  Marred by injures throughout his first three years, ending two seasons on injured reserve, Kikaha has to stay healthy first and foremost. The Saints have so much depth on this roster he's going to have to take advantage of his reps in practice and games.

"Right now he's playing that SAM linebacker he's going to have to continue to flash and show out.  If he's going to play LB he's going to have to improve his coverage skills," McAllister said.

Kikaha did register a would be sack in team drills today with the first team unit.

J.T. Barrett continues to struggle:  The un-drafted QB out of Ohio State hasn't been very impressive in two OTA practices that we've watched.  Last week he had two passing attempts in team drills -- one incomplete and one interception.

Let's put it this way, it's a carbon copy week this time around.  Barrett was picked off by LB Nate Stupar in team drills today.

"He clearly forced that ball, that was a bad decision.  No QB in the league would have completed that pass. Not even Brees," said Hebert.

Back to earth:  QB Taysom Hill was the 'star of the show' last week.  How quickly that can change in the NFL!

Taysmon Hill came back down to earth today.  Now to be fair we didn't see what Hill did in the previous two practices this week.  QB Tom Savage threw the ball better today says Bobby Hebert.

"I would give the edge today to Savage, he made more throws than Hill. It's just that simple."

Hill looks like he's got the inside track to be the back up to Brees in the early stages of the off-season.
