QB (3)

  1.  Drew Brees
  2. Tom Savage---I have him on the list to make the team for now. I do however think the Saints will look at some veterans on the waiver wire in September.  In other words I don’t really think the back up to Brees is on this roster
  3. Taysom Hill---The Saints will keep three quarterbacks but not because they want to have three on the roster but because Hill’s ability to play special teams plus he’s young and the Saints really like his potential to eventually become a starting QB

RB (8)

  1. Mark Ingram (Ingram does not count on the 53 man roster for the first four games)
  2. Alvin Kamara
  3. Jonathan Williams
  4. Zach Line
  5. Boston Scott
  6. Shane Vereen

Terrence West hasn’t impressed enough to make the roster.

WR (14)

  1. Mike Thomas
  2. Tedd Ginn jr
  3. Cameron Meredith
  4. Tre’Quan Smith
  5. Brandon Tate
  6. Keith Kirkwood---The Saints really like this player, and I could see them keeping him but likely not dressing on the active game day roster.

The Saints could end up keeping six receivers, but the most notable cut at this position group would be WR TommyLee Lewis.

TE (17)

  1. Ben Watson
  2. Josh Hill
  3. Michael Hoomanawanui

I wanted to put Dan Arnold on the active roster but the fact of the matter is he’s just not big enough yet to play tight end.  He’s headed for the practice squad.  Deon Yelder is also headed to the practice squad.  If Hoomanawanui doesn’t return from injury or can’t return from injury the Saints will add a veteran tight end off the waiver wire.

OL (25)

  1. Max Unger
  2. Larry Warford
  3. Andrus Peat
  4. Terron Armstead
  5. Ryan Ramczyk
  6. Jermon Bushrod
  7. Will Clapp---The Saints are very happy with Clapp as a guard and center. It might look like a surprise to some that he’s on the roster but not for the coaches and scouts.
  8. Rick Leonard---Some weren’t very high on the Rick Leonard pick in the 4th round but you can understand why the Saints would draft a project. A) They can afford to with the amount of depth they have at O-Line.  B) He’s tremendously athletic for a man his size, and keep in mind he’s only played offensive line for one season.  Think big picture here.

DL (34)

  1. Cameron Jordan
  2. Alex Okafor
  3. David Oneyemata
  4. Sheldon Rankins
  5. Trey Hendrickson
  6. Jay Bromley
  7. Mitchell Loewen
  8. Tyeler Davison
  9. Marcus Davenport

Al-Quadin Muhammad is pushed out the door, at least off the active roster.  Muhammad could be back with the Saints on the practice squad.  Last year in the preseason he led the league in sack totals.

LB (43)

  1. Demario Davis
  2. Alex Anzalone
  3. Manti Te’o
  4. Jayrone Elliot
  5. Craig Robertson
  6. A.J Klein
  7. Nate Stupar---He’s too good on Special Teams to not make the roster.

You will Hau’oli Kikaha not on the roster.  Pretty amazing considering he was a second round draft pick in 2015.  Kikaha just doesn’t fit the Saints defensive scheme and could benefit from a fresh start somewhere else.

DB (50)

  1. Marshon Lattimore
  2. Patrick Robinson
  3. Ken Crawley
  4. Justin Hardee
  5. Marcus Williams
  6. Vonn Bell
  7. Kurt Coleman
  8. Chris Banjo
  9. Arthur Maulet
  10. P.J Williams

Notice CB Natrell Jamerson, and Safety Kamrin Moore didn’t make my final roster.  Both were draft picks this off-season and it shows you the amount of depth the Saints have in the secondary

Specialists (53)

  1.  Thomas Morstead—Punter
  2.  Will Lutz—Kicker
  3. Zach Wood—Long Snapper
