The tune-up games are over for both LSU and Florida.

The season begins in Death Valley Saturday night at 7pm.

Make no mistake about it, these two teams don’t like each other very much.  The Gators are the Tigers’ biggest rival.

Inside the matchup: The energy in Tiger Stadium will be palpable. Florida is going to have to survive the early intense noise and momentum, if they are going to upset LSU.  The Gators defensive game plan will be simple: get after LSU quarterback Joe Burrow.  Florida’s defensive coordinator, Todd Grantham, seems to start calling blitzes as soon as his unit leaves the bus.

LSU’s offense should be able to handle the pass rush packages thrown their way.  In fact, I think they are going to use it to their advantage.  Look for the Tigers to run several screen plays and take plenty of shots down field against the aggressive Gators defense.

The Tigers are 13.5-point favorites over the Gators. That’s a ton of points in a top-10 showdown. When I talked to a couple of oddsmakers, both pointed out that professional gamblers are looking at LSU as if it’s a top-two team in the country and putting money behind them.

Prediction:  I’m not going against the odd’s makers. They know things we don’t.  Florida plays LSU close, but the Tigers put the game on ice and cover the big spread, 35-21.
