Garic: Fun time to be a sports fan in New Orleans

Saints 7-1, LSU No. 1 in the country

It is a fun time to be a sports fan in New Orleans!

The Saints are 7-1, and LSU is ranked No. 1 in the college football AP poll with an unblemished 8-0 record. Can it get any better? You bet! We’ll see what the crystal ball holds…we’ll see what the rest of season brings for our home teams.  Sure, the Pelicans are off to a poor start, but that team will come around.

During the Saints and Tigers bye week, I invite you to reflect back on what the last 8 weeks have been like, and what could be over the next two to three months.

The top-ranked LSU fighting Tigers face the No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide one week from Saturday in Tuscaloosa. The Saints return from their open date with a home game against the ultimate rival, the Dirty Birds of Atlanta. The Falcons have just one win, so there will be plenty of trolling going on from the Who Dat Nation.

While your flipping through channels this weekend looking for a football game to watch, think about what could await the City of New Orleans.  Monday, Jan. 13 is the College Football National Championship game. LSU has a real chance to play in that game. Sunday, January 12th the Saints could host an NFL divisional playoff game.

WOW! New Orleans and the Gulf South, buckle up! This place could be crazy for the next three months, and nothing but fun for everybody who loves Saints and LSU football.
