Eli Apple is headed to Vegas.

The former New Orleans Saints cornerback has agreed to terms and is signing with the Las Vegas Raiders, a soure confirms. The former first-round pick came to the Saints in 2018 as a part of a trade from the New York Giants.  Apple had mixed results in a season and a half in New Orleans. He started 25 games and tallied 58 tackles, two interceptions and 13 pass breakups.

Apple became an unrestricted free agent as the league year started today.

"Janoris Jenkins is the better option for the Saints than Eli Apple. He's good in coverage at times but he's not good with the ball in the air," explained the Cajun Cannon Bobby Hebert.

The Saints have to fill that void this off-season left by Apple's departure.  The aforementioned Jenkins is under contract through the upcoming season but carries a salary cap hit of over $10 million.  That could force the Saints to either release him or ask him to restructure his contract.

Apple will face his former team this season as the Saints are set to face the Raiders in 2020.
