Correction: Coach O says, ‘We're going to go to win’ against Alabama

What a weekend of football we have in front of us this Saturday and Sunday.  The Saints host the unbeaten Los Angeles Rams Sunday in the Superdome, but first No. 4 LSU hosts No. 1 Alabama in Tiger Stadium Saturday night.  Coach Ed Orgeron says his team will be ready and is excited for the challenge of the top ranked Crimson Tide, “We have to play our best game to beat Alabama.”

Alabama hasn’t been forced to play a full sixty minute game this season.  Every matchup was pretty much decided by half time.  The only team to keep Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide under 40 points was Missouri at 39.

The Tigers aren’t kidding themselves about what this game with Bama means, but are trying not to make too much of it.  “Everyone knows it’s THE game, but I won’t make this game bigger than life, and the players don’t have to change who they are or how they play to win,” Orgeron added.  Alabama has won seven straight against LSU.

During his weekly press conference Coach Ed Orgeron was asked if 30 points would be the magic number needed to beat Alabama.  Orgeron’s response, “Who said it would take 30 points?”  The reporter laughed and said “I did.”  Coach O didn’t give a magic points expectation.

A reporter asked, "Do you change your approach going in maybe even being a little more aggressive, throwing that kitchen sink?"

Coach O said, "We're going to go to win the game, I can tell you that. We're going to figure out a game plan that fits this week, a game plan that fits the team."

EDITORS NOTE: Previously in this article we misquoted Coach Ed Orgeron. Coach O did not say, “We are going to win the game.”  He in fact said "We're going to go to win the game." We apologize for the error.

The good news, LSU is getting a big part of their offensive line back against Alabama.  Left guard Garret Brumfield has been cleared by trainers and will be back for this huge SEC showdown.

The Tigers opened the week as a 14 point underdog at home Saturday night.  This might be the biggest weekend of football along the I-10 corridor from New Orleans to Baton Rouge in a heck of a long time.  Is it the weekend yet?
